Colleagues:

CSU has a rich history of strong scholarship in areas related to the environment, and this expertise has grown rapidly over the past decade as has global interest in environmental issues. Last year, a Task Force of faculty and researchers recommended the formation of a multidisciplinary School to help package and market existing environmental programs both to funding agencies and to the growing number of students looking for “green” scholarship and career opportunities, to build programs in areas of need we are not currently addressing, and to foster interdisciplinary research opportunities for our faculty across the University with interests in this broad area.

Last summer, we launched the School of Global Environmental Sustainability, and its first Director, Diana Wall, has been working diligently with her Steering Committee and interested faculty and staff to develop programs within the School and increase the prominence of our existing environmental programs. As a step in these ongoing efforts, Diana, her Steering Committee, and I are forwarding an open invitation to become an Affiliate Faculty member of the School of Global Environmental Sustainability. If this opportunity is of interest to you and a match for your scholarship, I encourage you to contact Diana and she’ll be able to address any questions you might have.
