Outstanding!

Even with last week’s rainy weather, our campus community managed to break all previous records in Cans Around the Oval, raising more than 60,000 pounds of food and $57,000 in cash — for a total impact of 345,514 pounds of food to feed the hungry in our community. Your work to fill the pantries of the Food Bank for Larimer County will help it meet the needs of children, seniors, non-profits, and the 30,000 area residents who rely on its services.

We’d like to recognize everyone who contributed and joined in the Cans activities this year — with a special thank you to the College of Business, College of Liberal Arts, Office of the Vice President for Research, our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, fraternities and sororities, and the residence halls, all of whom pitched and set a high bar for campus contributions.

But above all, we want to thank our student body as a whole. CSU students, with the excellent support of our SLiCE team, are the force that has made this our community’s largest annual one-day food drive.

Students: Your enthusiasm, hard work, and generosity are an inspiration — and our community is better for it.

Thanks, and have a great (and safe) Halloween weekend.
